Marcella Parsons, founded ARose Books ( www.arosebooks.com ) in 2002 after twenty-three years in printing and telecommunications software development. Having worked at Xerox for many years in the Printing Systems Division, where she developed communications software, contour font software, and was part of teams using the first windows based personal computers and the first touch screens invented at Xerox research centers, gave her an invaluable background in digital publishing. Marcella spent years as a TCP/IP routing engineer on products that range from streaming video from satellites to Voice Over IP telephone systems. She was Vice President of Engineering at Pacific Softworks responsible for engineering development and customer support and training. Parsons started ARose Books from a hobby collecting vintage American books and postcards. With entrepreneurial spirit, she learned the publishing industry from the ground up. Applying her knowledge of digital publishing she built ARose Books as a state-of-the-art digital publishing company using print on demand technology. This has enabled ARose Books to produce output at a faster rate than most traditional publishing houses. Parsons received her B.S. in Mathematics from Carnegie-Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA in 1980. She did a year of masters’ work in Operations Research at CMU before moving with her family to Los Angeles, CA. After years of working in California, Marcella moved to Incline Village, NV on the North shore of Lake Tahoe to pursue her interests - publishing and hiking, snow-shoeing, and skiing in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. As a result of her experience in software, IP protocols, and her recent experience in digital publishing, Marcella conceived the idea for the patent-pending technology that Sierra Interactive Systems, Inc is founded upon; a complete protocol for digital, interactive books. |
